They label the mill as the "Northern Brewer Barley Crusher" mill. Interesting to know if Northern bought out Barley Crusher. I doubt it with the other mils NB has and I would bet BC owners wouldn't have any problems getting their mills fix if they had to go through Northern.

I'll also add another negative for Barley Crusher. About a month ago I was brewing at a friend's house. He was brewing a 10 gallon batch and I had a 5 gallon. His mill is a Barley Crusher with the heavy Harbor Freight corded drill. Before we started, I pointed out that his rollers weren't parallel, with a much bigger gap at one end.

After looking at a handful of models, I decided on the barley crusher because of its good reviews in the homebrew forums. At 115 it's not a small investment, but grain mills can easily get above 200 so it's not on the higher end of the price range. It comes with a 7 lb capacity aluminum hopper.

If so I suggest you do search here on "worn roller barley crusher" or just search "grain mill worn roller" and you'll find the threads are all related to the barley crusher... Your problem is a very common issue with the Barley crusher mills. You can send the mill back to take the roller replaced and it should only cost you shipping and handling...

I was also comparing these two, and ended up with the Cereal Killer mainly because of the use of ball bearings rather than sleeves. The mill is mounted into an old cabinet with an old but restored 1940's 1/4 hp motor, reduced from 1750 down to <200rpm using " and 14" sheaves (about : 1).

Yes the cereal killer is made in china I believe by the company that started out making the mill parts for the barley crusher which has american made rollers (which is soft compared to other mills and wears down requiring replacement in many cases) but most of the other components on it come from china.

I started the store and needed a crusher but didn't have the to buy a real good industrial one so I used it. I set it up on a motor and gear box and use it for almost the entire first 2 years to crush grain. We probably crushed 4050K pounds of grain through that bad boy in those early years and the rollers still looked good.

I've had my Barley Crusher for something like 23 years now, can't recall. Been working pretty darn great over that time but there was the occasional time where it would refuse to pull grain. One time it was because the second roller wasn't adjusted properly and woudn't roll smoothly, easy fix.

I don't think you need experience with all three to observe the potential issue with small diameter rollers. It's the same problem people have with Barley Crusher. If you see positive reviews of a brand new mill, they can really only be taken seriously after 1000 pounds of grain goes through.
